From Volkswagen to Mercedes-Benz: 5 Key Car Launches in India This April
After an action-packed first quarter of 2026—featuring major launches like the all-new Renault Duster, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, and Maruti e Vitara—the momentum in the Indian auto market continues into April. Both mainstream and luxury carmakers are gearing up to introduce some significant new models. Here’s a look at five major launches to watch out for:
1. New Volkswagen Taigun

Volkswagen is set to unveil the updated Taigun on April 9, with a possible launch on the same day. The facelift is expected to bring a more aggressive and modern design, featuring sleeker connected headlamps, illuminated logos, and redesigned tail lamps.
Inside, the SUV could get a more premium and tech-focused cabin, including a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and even a massage function for the rear seats.
Mechanically, Volkswagen may introduce an 8-speed automatic gearbox with the 1.0-litre TSI engine, potentially improving fuel efficiency and overall driving smoothness.
2. MG Majestor

The Majestor, essentially a facelifted version of the MG Gloster, will debut as MG Motor’s answer to the Toyota Fortuner. This updated SUV is expected to feature a tougher design along with several new additions such as a front passenger massage seat, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and dual wireless smartphone charging.
Safety and capability also get a boost with Level 2 ADAS and enhanced off-road hardware, including front, centre, and rear differential locks along with a crawl control function.
3. Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella

Toyota Kirloskar Motor will enter the EV space with the Urban Cruiser Ebella, its first electric vehicle in India. Based on the Maruti e Vitara, the Ebella features a slightly more premium exterior design with sleeker headlamps and a cleaner front fascia.
The SUV will be offered in two variants, delivering claimed ranges of 440 km and 543 km. Toyota is also expected to introduce a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, giving buyers more flexibility in ownership.
4. Nissan Tekton

The Tekton marks Nissan’s return to the mid-size SUV segment and will effectively replace the Nissan Terrano. Built on the same platform as the new Renault Duster, it will share several components and features. However, the Tekton will distinguish itself with a more aggressive, Nissan Patrol-inspired front-end and a slightly more road-focused design.
It is expected to launch with 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engines, while a hybrid version based on a 1.8-litre petrol engine could arrive in 2027.
5. Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric

Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz will introduce the all-new CLA in its fully electric avatar. The sedan will be available in two rear-wheel-drive variants: 200 and 250+. The CLA EV promises impressive range figures—up to 542 km for the 200 and an extended 792 km for the 250+ variant.
On the inside, it will feature a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a large 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, high-power USB-C ports, and a seamless fixed glass roof. Pricing is expected to fall in the ₹55–60 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
With a mix of EVs, SUVs, and luxury offerings, April 2026 is shaping up to be another exciting month for car buyers in India.
